JUBBINS, THE PLAIN BROWN DOG is a friend I’ve held dear since the first time I clumsily put pencil to paper. As a child, this little brown dog was a creative inspiration and a companion. My appreciation for him has only grown over the years.

To me, Plain Brown Dog is a portal to nostalgia. Everything about the toy—from the way his fur softens and mattes with time, to his felt-tip nose, or how his cotton filling shifts and settles—all are a quiet testament that a toy has been truly well-loved.

More than anything, Plain Brown Dog emerged from a need to reconnect with the simple joy of creating—of making something purely because it is meaningful to have in the world. It’s a feeling that can get a little lost these days, but it is one that Jubbins embodies. He’s always curious about trying new things, wandering through nature, treasuring the small and peaceful moments—often in the company of friends.
